Mizoram: Nitin Gadkari Assures Road Connectivity With Myanmar To Be Completed By November This Year

Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on October 30 said that a cross-border road under the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project (KMTTP) to link south Mizoram’s Lawngtlai district and Myanmar’s Sittwe port will be completed by November this year.

Addressing a rally at West Phaileng within Dampa assembly constituency in west Mizoram’s Mamit district bordering Bangladesh, Nitin Gadkari said the 26km road project costs Rs 1,132 crore.

“The road under Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project will be completed by November and it will be helpful to connect Myanmar’s Sittwe port,” Nitin Gadkari said.

“If the infrastructure is good we get investment in industry and agriculture, by which we can create jobs. And by creating jobs we can eradicate poverty, which is the basic principle behind development,” he added.

Nitin Gadkari also said that a Rs 20,000 crore road project, which will link nine districts of Mizoram along the international border, is being undertaken. The 750km road project will also link Nagaland, Manipur in the country and Myanmar in the international boundary.
