Assam: UNESCO Team To Inspect Charaideo Maidam Site On October 7

An expert team of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is expected to inspect the Charaideo Maidam site on October 7 to assess the preservation efforts, management blueprint, futuristic planning, and the roles of various stakeholders.

Charaideo Maidam Is Referred To As Pyramids Of Assam

Charaideo Maidam is also referred to as the Pyramids of Assam. Notably, the Centre has nominated this historic site for the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage Site tag.

If selected, the state will have three world heritage sites, the other two being Kaziranga National Park and Manas National Park.

A group of ministers (GoM) formed by the state government to monitor the renovation works of the site, visited the historic site on September 9.

The group of ministers held a meeting at Suikapha Museum to review the renovation works. The UNESCO team is expected to spend two days at the Maidam site.
