Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh appealed to the warring Meitei and Kuki communities for restoration of peace and harmony in the state.
Manipur CM Urges Meiteis, Kukis To Shun Violence
The Chief Minister urged the people of the Meitei and Kuki communities to adopt a method of “forgive and forget” to ensure that peace and normalcy return to the state.
“Forgive and forget whatever happened,” he urged both the communities in his Independence Day speech.
Further, he appealed to both the communities to shun violence. “I appeal to both the communities to shun violence and let’s stay together like we did before,” he said.
The Chief Minister claimed foreign conspiracies as the main reason for the ethnic violence in Manipur. Ethnic violence in the Northeastern state of Manipur is a result of “misunderstandings and conspiracies of foreigners”, he said.
