The devastating wildfires become the deadliest in the US in more than a century. According to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the cost to rebuild Lahaina was estimated at $5.5 billion.

At a news conference, Governor Josh Green warned that the death toll would continue to rise since more bodies were discovered.

“It will certainly be the worst natural disaster that Hawaii ever faced,” the Governor said as he toured the devastation in Lahaina.

It is to be mentioned the newly released death toll passed that of the 2018 Camp Fire in northern California, which left 85 dead and destroyed the town of Paradise.

Meanwhile, Hawaii’s Attorney-General stated that she will conduct a probe into how the authorities responded and acted to the deadly wildfires.
