IPS A.V.Y. Krishna, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Crime Investigation Department (CID), Assam, has been appointed as the Inspector General (IG) of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

It may be mentioned an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the appointment of A.V.Y. Krishna as the IG on deputation basis for a period of five years.
Krishna was relieved from the additional charges of the post of Additional Director General of Police (STF) in last month.
Post the major reshuffle, Krishna was continuing functions as the Additional Director General of Police (CID), Assam and Additional Director General of Police, BI (EO).
Notably, Krishna is a senior officer of 1995 batch Assam-Meghalaya cadre. Several important cases, including SI Junmoni Rabha death case, were tackled during his tenure in CID Assam.
