India’s third lunar mission is all set for launch on July 14. Chandrayaan’s launch control operations will be headed by Chayan Dutta, an accomplished Assamese scientist making a great leap for the entire scientific community of the state.
Chandrayaan-3 Mission
Chayan Dutta is an alumnus of Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Tezpur University. He is working as a Scientist/Engineer-G at UR Rao Satellite Centre, Department of Space.
Dutta is heading the “On Board Command Telemetry, Data Handling and Storage System, Lander, Chandrayaan-3” as Deputy Project Director.
Chandrayaan-3 will be launched by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on board the launch vehicle mark-III from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.
Expressing his gratitude, Dutta said, “I am deeply honoured and humbled to have been entrusted with the responsibility. This mission represents a significant milestone for our nation and the global scientific community.”
ISRO chairman S Somanath said the space agency opted for a failure-based design in Chandrayaan-3 to ensure that the rover successfully lands on the moon even if some things go wrong.
