Assam: CM Sarma Announces Rs 4 Crore For Development Of Navagraha Crematorium

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on July 8 announced that the state government will soon release a sum amount of Rs 4 crore for the development of Navagraha Crematorium located in Silpukhuri, Guwahati.

The crematorium’s projected construction will be carried out cost at a total cost of Rs. 8.70 crore. The Chief Minister visited the crematorium and announced that the state government would release a portion of the total cost in order to speed up the construction process.

Taking on Twitter, Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah announced, “The Government of Assam has designated a budget of Rs 4 cr. for the comprehensive development of the Navagraha cemetery. Hon’ble CM, Dr. @himantabiswa, paid a visit to the Navagraha cemetery to take stock of the progress and also discussed various other issues.”

Sarma gave the relevant departments instructions to ensure a smooth completion of the planned building activities for development.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister told media persons, “Our government is aiming to make the historical and spiritual places as tourist destinations. Keeping this in mind, we will be developing Bhimasankar Dham Jyotirlinga Temple, revamping Batadrava Than and constructing corridor for Kamakhya Temple among others.”

“Spiritual places in Assam are one of the focal points of tourism and developing these religious places will make the tourism sector of the state grow,” Sarma added.
