An order issued by the Jorhat District Magistrate stated that all types of cars, people, and other moving objects are prohibited from crossing the inter-state border between the hours of 8 PM and 5 AM.

The Jorhat District magistrate in an official notification informed, ”WHEREFORE, the Intelligence branch and district police occasionally receive trustworthy reports that some extremist groups are attempting to enter the state over the Nagaland Border in order to stir up disturbance in the Jorhat District.”

”Additionally, it has been a successful deterrent to extremist behaviour. Criminals have been exploiting the Assam-Nagaland border as a passageway when getting into and out of Jorhat district and into the neighbouring regions. They frequently use this route to carry out disruptive and illegal operations in Jorhat and other Assamese districts,” it added.
