APPSC Paper Leak Scam: 72-Hour Bandh Declared In Arunachal Pradesh; Internet Service Suspended

A 72-hour bandh was declared by a few Arunachal Pradesh local groups in protest against Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) paper leak scam. The government has slapped an internet ban across the state from 7 pm on May 9 till May 12.

It is mentioned educational institutions, banks and a few corporate organizations remained closed during the bandh.

Local police apprehended 17 people for violating the Arunachal Pradesh Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 2014. The district administration imposed Section 144 after a mob vandalized the entry gate of the Naharlagun Police Station.

Notably, the CBI took over the investigation and detained more than 50 people in the case. The APPSC scam came to light after a candidate named Gyamar Padang, who appeared in the Assistant Engineer (Civil) exam, filed a complaint at the Itanagar Police Station on August 29, 2022.

For further investigation, the case was then turned over to the CBI and the ED by the Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
