Following the order of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Cachar district administration has taken the necessary steps for people from Manipur who have entered the state of Assam seeking refuge.

Reportedly, a large number of people moved into the Southern part of Assam since the problems started on May 3.

It is mentioned as many as six shelter homes have been set up in schools and community halls in the Lakhipur constituency of the Cacher district.

These necessary steps were taken as soon as the Assam Chief Minister ordered the district administration to provide these people with the needful resources.

In this regard, the Superintendent of Police for the Cachar district, Numal Mahatta stated that steps have been taken to ensure the safety of the people of Manipur who came to Assam in fear of their lives. Over 1100 Manipuris have taken shelter in these camps set up by the Cachar district administration.
