Centre Unlocks Biometrics For Over 9 Lakh People Affected During NRC In Assam: Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said the Centre has unlocked the biometrics of over 9 lakh people affected during the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam, and started the process of issuing Aadhaar cards to them.

Assam Unlocks Biometric Data For Aadhaar Cards

The Chief Minister said the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will dispatch 12,000-13,000 such Aadhaar cards to Tinsukia on September 23 on a pilot basis.

The UIDAI is releasing biometrics for 9.35 lakh NRC-BME blocked cases of Assam. So far, 5 lakh Aadhaar cards have been generated, he stated on X.
