With the aim to reduce the human-elephant conflict in Assam and surrounding states, Nandita Gorlosa, cabinet minister for power, sports and youth welfare, on Saturday launched a mobile application, HaatiApp.

The app developed by Aaranyak, an NGO based in Guwahati, aims to reduce conflict between humans and elephants while upholding coexistence.
Nandita Garlosa stated that people have adopted such dangerous measures to save their life and property, despite elephants being revered across the state.
The HaatiApp serves as an early warning system and alerts communities to the presence of wild elephants near human settlements.
The application also has an ex-gratia application form, using which victims who have suffered damages due to elephants can submit claims for compensation to the respective forest divisions.
