The Central government is committed to finding a permanent solution to the flood situation in Assam. This was stated by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal after conducted an assessment of the flood situation in Dibrugarh and Tinsukia districts.

“The state and the Centre are committed to finding a permanent solution to the flood situation in Assam. Lakhs of people have been affected by Assam floods. The state government and district administration are actively providing relief materials,” Sarbananda Sonowal said.
“In the coming days, both the state government and the Centre are dedicated to resolving the flood issues in Assam,” the Union Minister added. He also said that there is a need for a detailed study on Dibrugarh city.
“A competent institution will conduct a techno-economic feasibility and landscape assessment, and based on the report, a permanent solution will be sought,” Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
