Assam reverently observes ‘Rabha Divas’ every year on June 20 to pay tribute to much-revered cultural icon and activist Bishnu Prasad Rabha.

Rabha was a musician, dancer, actor, poet, and painter. His works reflect a deep connection with Assam’s cultural heritage, as well as a progressive vision for the future.
Considered a doyen of the culture of Assam, Rabha composed numerous songs that are still cherished for their meaningful lyrics and mellifluent tunes.
The Assamese people affectionately call him ‘Kolaguru’. Several cultural events have been organized across the state to mark this cult figure’s 55th death anniversary. Rabha breathed his last in Assam’s Tezpur on June 20, 1969.
