In a significant development, Assam police arrested Nipen Das, the superintendent of Dibrugarh Central Jail on Thursday night.
Dibrugarh Jail Superintendent Detained After Amritpal Singh’s Communication Network Uncovered
The arrest was made in relation to objectionable materials discovered in the cell of Amritpal Singh, the chief of Waris Punjab De, and his nine associates lodged in Dibrugarh Central Jail.
Assam police took action against Dibrugarh Central Jail superintendent Nipen Das based on a case registered in connection with the incident.
This comes after Assam police uncovered a major communication network operating from inside Dibrugarh Central Jail, allegedly run by Amritpal Singh.
Amritpal Singh‘s nine associates, who were also implicated in the case, were booked under the National Security Act (NSA).
