The Assam unit of the Congress party has finalised candidates in five constituencies for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. This was confirmed by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Kumar Borah.
Assam Congress Finalises Candidates For Five Lok Sabha Seats
There are a total of 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam. While the Congress has finalised candidates in five of the 14 constituencies, it is expected to leave few of the remaining nine seats for the parties in the United Opposition Forum Assam (UOFA).
“We received over 70 applications for the 14 constituencies. Our screening committee has identified one candidate for each of the five constituencies,” said Bhupen Kumar Borah. “The remaining nine have two contenders each. Some of these may be allocated to our UOFA partners,” he added.
