Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 8 tabled a ‘White Paper on the Indian Economy’ in the Lok Sabha.

In her Interim Budget speech, Nirmala Sitharaman had announced that the government will come out with a white paper to compare the economic performance of 10 years of the Congress-led UPA government with that of 10 years of the BJP-led NDA government.
A white paper is a government document which is presented to highlight new policies and achievements to gain support and to gauge public reaction.
“It is now appropriate to look at where we were then till 2014 and where we are now, only for the purpose of drawing lessons from the mismanagement of those years. The Government will lay a White Paper on table of the House,” the Union Finance Minister had said.
