Assam Government Proposes Merger Of SEBA And AHSEC

The Assam government proposed to merge the state boards for Classes 10 and 12 to make one single entity in order to manage secondary education.

The state government introduced the Assam State School Education Board Bill, 2024 in the Assembly for creating a new body to control the education system till Class 12 in the state.

According to the bill, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) will be merged to create a new body – Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB).

The bill has been brought to “regulate, supervise and develop secondary education in the state of Assam by merging the existing Board of Secondary Education, Assam and Assam Higher Secondary Education Council”.
