Several more Congress leaders in Assam are expected to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Assam cabinet minister Pijush Hazarika said on January 29.
Many Congress Leaders Set To Join BJP: Pijush Hazarika
Speaking to the media, Pijush Hazarika said that several “big Congress names” will join the saffron party on February 5.
“I am hopeful that several big Congress leaders will leave the party on February 5 and join the BJP,” he said. “We get calls every day from someone or the other expressing their wish to join our party,” Pijush Hazarika added.
This statement from Pijush Hazarika came just a day after former Assam Youth Congress president Angkita Dutta joined the BJP alleging mistreatment of women leaders within the grand old party.
Former Congress minister Bismita Gogoi also joined the BJP. Further, former All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) president Dipanka Nath and former AASU vice-president Prakash Das also joined the BJP.
