The Assam government and Visva-Bharati University, West Bengal on Thursday inked a Memorandum of Understanding to set up a Srimanta Sankardeva Chair at the University.
Assam CM Express Gratitude To Visva-Bharati For Support In State’s Endeavor To Share Valuable Teachings Of Srimanta Sankardeva
The MoU was inked in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Visva-Bharati Vice-Chancellor Arabinda Mondal.
The Chief Minister highlighted that Srimanta Sankardeva’s teachings have illuminated Assam for centuries and united Sanatan Dharma by transcending caste identities.
Further, he urged the academic community to use the agreement to advance scholarship on Sankardeva’s contributions to Indian society.
The chair aims to promote study and research on Srimanta Sankardeva and his Bhakti Movement beyond the borders of Assam and India.
