Independence Day: ULFA-I Claims To Have Planted Bombs Across 19 Locations In Assam

The United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) on Thursday claimed that it had planted bombs in 19 different places of entire Assam to disrupt Independence Day celebrations.

However, the ULFA-I stated that the bombs failed due to technical errors. The outfit claimed that it intended to detonate the explosives during Independence Day celebrations as a form of “armed protest”.

In a press release, the ULFA-I stated that bombs have been planted in several areas in Upper Assam, such as Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, and Guwahati, as well as Lower Assam. The outfit also released a list of the targeted locations, along with photographs of some of the bomb sites.

Meanwhile, an investigation has been initiated by the police. Police teams have been disposed to search for the bombs as per a list released by the banned insurgent group.
