Elections Are Formality, There’s No Need For Lok Sabha Polls, Says Assam CM

According to Himanta Biswa Sarma, there seems to be a singular objective in this electoral process: “to reaffirm Modi’s leadership at the national level”.

Speaking to the media in Karbi Anglong district on April 2, the Chief Minister expressed his perspective on the forthcoming elections, stating, “This election is to re-elect Prime Minister Narendra Modi. I don’t think there are any other issues in this election. Beyond the re-election of Modi, there seemed to be little else of significance driving the electoral discourse.”

He implied that the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls seemed to be more about fulfilling a formal requirement, given the regularity of elections every five years, rather than addressing pressing issues or concerns facing the nation.

“It is a formality that every five years we have to vote, otherwise there was no need for even this election,” the Chief Minister remarked, emphasizing a sense of inevitability surrounding the electoral process.
