Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has been given the responsibility of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries in addition to his existing portfolio of the Ministry of Earth Sciences.

This comes after the resignation of Pashupati Paras from the union council of ministers with immediate effect, following which President Droupadi Murmu assigned Kiren Rijiju the food processing industries ministry.

Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) president Pashupati Paras tendered his resignation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 19.

His exit precedes his candidature announcement for the Hajipur constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. Paras resigned on March 19 as he accused BJP of doing injustice to RLJP by excluding it from the seat-sharing pact with allies for the Lok Sabha polls in Bihar.
