Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Bhupen Kumar Borah on March 18 wrote to the Chief Election Commissioner of India to complain about BJP’s gross violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

Model Code Of Conduct For Upcoming General Elections Came Into Force On March 16

The Model Code of Conduct for the upcoming general elections came into force on March 16 after the Chief Election Commissioner of India announced the Lok Sabha poll dates.

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar requested parties to uphold decorum during political campaigning.

Bhupen Kumar Borah in his complaint pointed out that the BJP unit in Assam is yet to take off advertisements and publicity materials with the photographs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The APCC president stated that it is a gross violation of the Model Code of Conduct, requesting the polling panel to step in and take appropriate action.
