Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 13 laid the foundation stone for the semiconductor plant in Morigaon, Assam.

PM Modi also laid the foundation stones for two more semiconductor plants to come up in Gujarat. It may be mentioned here that Tata Group is spearheading the establishment of two out of these three plants.
Addressing the occasion, he said that today’s historic occasion is a significant step towards a bright future for India as foundation stones are laid for three major semiconductor manufacturing projects worth Rs 1.25 lakh crores in Dholera and Sadanand in Gujarat and Morigaon in Assam.
“Today’s projects will play a key role in making India a semiconductor hub,” the Prime Minister said, as he congratulated the citizens for the key initiatives.
He added that semiconductor research will benefit the youth the most. PM Modi also pointed out the huge presence of Indian talent in global chip design and manufacturing.
