In a notification issued on January 21, the Batadrava Than Management Committee said, “Tomorrow is the Pran Pratishtha of Ram Temple and many devotees will come to the Than. Apart from this, many programmes have been organised outside the Than premises where thousands of devotees will gather. For that reason, Rahul Gandhi’s visit programme will be after 3 pm and it has been decided in the meeting.”

Speaking to the media, Jogendra Narayan Dev Mahanta, president of the Batadrava Than Management Committee, said, “We are happy that Rahul Gandhi will visit the Than, but tomorrow around 10,000 people will gather here. At that time we do not want Rahul Gandhi to come here, because there may be some difficulties in the process of welcoming him. Today the Karnadhar Committee of Batadrava Than Management Committee has decided that he can come tomorrow after 3 pm and we will be able to give him a grand welcome. We have already informed the local MLA, DC and SP.”

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has advised Rahul Gandhi to avoid visiting the Batadrava Than in the Nagaon district on January 22, citing the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple.

Meanwhile, Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi visited the birthplace of Srimanta Sankardeva. Taking to microblogging platform X, he said, “On behalf of Shri Rahul Gandhi I visited the birthplace of Saint Srimanta Sankardeva. Rahul Gandhi was denied permission to visit Batadrava Than by the police, citing law & order and a pre-scheduled program. The fact is the opposite because there was no program taking place.”
