IPS Officer, ‘Iron Lady Of Assam’ Sanjukta Parashar Promoted To IGP Rank
In a significant development, Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Sanjukta Parashar, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) at the National Investigation Agency (NIA), New Delhi, has been promoted to the rank of the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Sanjukta Parashar will take charge from January 1, 2024. She was promoted in a major reshuffle, transferring several Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) and other police officers of different ranks on December 26.
The promotion, granted in recognition of Sanjukta Parashar’s commitment to public service, was officially announced through a notification. According to the directive, “In the interest of public service, Dr. Sanjukta Parashar, IPS (RR-2006), Deputy Inspector General, National Investigation Agency (NIA), New Delhi (on Central Deputation) is allowed Proforma Promotion to the rank of Inspector General of Police in Super Time Scale-II of IPS in Level 14 of Pay Matrix with effect from 01/01/2024.”
