Assam DGP Holds Key Meeting With ASPs Of Security Wing Amid ULFA-I Threat

Assam Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh on December 21 held a closed-door meeting with the Additional Superintendents of Police (ASPs) of the security wing from all districts.

The meeting took place at the Assam Police headquarters in Ulubari locality of Guwahati. This follows the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) openly accepting a veiled challenge from GP Singh.

As per sources, top police officials across the state have implemented special measures in response to recent grenade attacks. Tight security arrangements have been established in every district, sources added.

Operations are ongoing in remote areas along the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border and in other parts of Northeastern states. Special precautions have been taken for the DGP’s safety.

Moreover, the security at the Assam Police headquarters and GP Singh’s official residence in Kahilipara locality has been increased.
