The Election Commission of India (ECI) on December 1 revised the counting date of the Mizoram Assembly polls to December 4. The counting was earlier supposed to take place on December 3.
Mizoram Assembly Polls
The ECI had received several representations from various quarters requesting for change in date of counting from December 3 to some other week day, on the ground that December 3, being Sunday a special significance for the people of Mizoram.
The ECI, having considered these representations, has decided to revise the counting date of the Mizoram Assembly polls from December 3 to December 4.
In the Christian-majority Mizoram, most people are busy with Church-related activities on Sundays. Polling for the 40-member Mizoram assembly was held on November 7.
