4 Dead After Delhi-Kamakhya North East Express Train Derails In Bihar’s Buxar

The Delhi-Kamakhya North East Express train derailment in Bihar’s Buxar claimed the lives of at least four passengers late on the evening of October 11.

70 others were reported injured after six coaches of the train derailed near the Raghunathpur station, according to a Railway Police Force official.

The Railways on October 12 announced Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia to the next of kin of those killed in the train derailment.

Rs 50,000 would also be provided to those injured, it said. Moreover, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced Rs 4 lakh compensation to the kin of those killed in the train derailment.

As the accident happened, locals rushed to rescue the passengers and helped them move out of the derailed coaches.

Taking to X platform, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed condolences for the loss of lives and said rescue operations were completed and all coaches had been checked.

Ashwini Vaishnaw also said the root cause of the derailment would be investigated.
