‘Blinken Urges India To Cooperate With Canadian Investigation Into Killing Of Hardeep Singh Nijjar’ In S. Jaishankar Meet

S. Jaishankar is currently on a five-day official trip to Washington DC. This is the highest-level interaction between the two countries after the recently concluded G-20 Summit in New Delhi.

While speaking in Quebec, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who had alleged an Indian role in the killing of Nijjar, said he was certain that Blinken would raise the issue with Jaishankar.

“The Americans will certainly discuss this matter with the Indian government,” Justin Trudeau had said. “Blinken raised the Canadian matter in his meeting and urged the Indian government to cooperate with Canada’s investigation,” the US official said; however, a State Department statement made no mention of the issue.

The two diplomats “discussed a full range of issues, including key outcomes of India’s G20 presidency, and the creation of India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor and its potential to generate transparent, sustainable, and high-standard infrastructure investments,” said State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller.
