IAF Set To Place Orders For 100 Additional Indigenous Tejas Mark-1A Fighter Jets

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is all set to purchase around 100 additional Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas Mark-1A fighter jets from Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), senior defence officials said.

300 Tejas Mark-1A Fighter Aircrafts Expected To Be Inducted Into IAF In Next Few Years

According to reports, the decision was taken to replace the ageing fleet of MiG-21 fighter jets in the IAF.

The proposals for the projects have been submitted to the Defence Ministry. Clearance for the order is expected to come in the coming days.

Around 300 Tejas Mark-1A fighter aircrafts are expected to be inducted into the IAF in the next few years.

Tejas Mark-1A is an indigenously developed modern 4-plus generation fighter aircraft. Recently, IAF Chief VR Chaudhari reviewed the development project of the Tejas Mark-1A with all stakeholders.

The IAF chief mentioned the aircraft has been the flagbearer of the efforts towards indigenization of its aircraft fleet.
