The Revenue and Disaster Management department of the Government of Assam on Wednesday carried out a major reshuffle in the state revenue department in view of the ongoing flood season and stringent timelines of Mission Basundhara 2.0.

Various circle officers were transferred and a few were recruited. According to notice issued, as many as 53 officials were transferred and posted in other circle offices while a few were recruited against the posts that were lying vacant.

”In view of the ongoing flood season and stringent timelines of Mission Basundhara 2.0, all the officers under transfer vide the notifications mentioned above stand released from their present place of posting with immediate effect to enable them to join their new place of posting expeditiously. Accordingly, all officers are directed to join their new places of posting within 48 hours excluding the date of the notification,” the notice read.

The Assam Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) informed nearly 21,000 people in four districts in Assam have been affected in the first spell of flood. A total of 20,768 people have been affected alone in the Lakhimpur district.

”Following incessant rain, the water level of many rivers is rising up,” the ASDMA said. The four affected districts are Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Cachar and Kamrup (Metro).
