The Indian Army and Assam Rifles have beefed up security after fresh violence in Manipur. It is mentioned the state has been witnessing bouts of ethnic clashes since May 3.

Indian Army, Assam Rifles Intensify Domination Across Manipur

Reportedly, both the teams in Imphal East and Churchandpur prevented the firing incidents between the two communities. No casualties were reported.

Around 60 people have lost their lives in the violence that hit Manipur earlier this month. Houses have also been burnt during the ethnic violence.

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on May 26 informed that additional security forces had been brought into the state.

Notably, the security personnel consisting of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Manipur Police, Manipur Rifles, India Reserve Battalion (IRB) and Village Defence Force (VDF) had been deployed at 38 vulnerable areas.

The Chief Minister appealed to the people to refrain from violent activities and not to believe or spread any unfounded information rumours. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is slated to visit the state for three days.
