Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on May 5 visited Delhi University Post-Graduate Men’s Hostel. He interacted with students and had lunch with them.
Unauthorized Hostel Visit
It is mentioned the provost of the Delhi University Post-Graduate Men’s Hostel sent a two-page notice to Rahul Gandhi stating ”Such conduct from a leader of a National Party who has Z-plus security is beyond dignity”.
It further said that such a sudden visit without prior notice is irresponsible behavior by Mr. Gandhi. Notably, the Handbook of Information and Rules of the Hostel has clearly mentioned that ”No resident shall indulge in any activity in the Hostel premises other than academic and residents council activities.”
On the other hand, the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress, on May 9 suspected that the administration was under pressure to take action against Rahul Gandhi.
”The Management Committee of the Hostel in its emergent meeting held on 06.05.2023 in the presence of Dean Students’ Welfare and Proctor of the University of Delhi has unanimously decided and resolved that such a conduct from a leader of a National Party who has Z-plus security is beyond dignity,” the notice mentioned.
