Atique-Ashraf Murder: Supreme Court To Hear Plea Seeking Independent Probe On April 28

The Supreme Court agreed to hear a plea seeking independent probe into the murder of gangster-turned-politician Atique Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj.

The Supreme Court will hear the plea on April 28. Notably, Advocate Vishal Tiwari mentioned before a bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud seeking an urgent hearing of his plea.

It is mentioned Advocate Vishal Tiwari has moved a plea in the Supreme Court seeking to constitute an independent expert committee to inquire into the 183 encounters.

Atique Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed were shot dead inside the premises of MLN Medical College on April 15. They were shot dead by three men identified as Arun Maurya, Sunny Singh and Lovelesh Tiwari, posing as journalists.

As per inputs, five officers of the Uttar Pradesh Police have been suspended over the Atique-Ashraf murder.
