Department Of Telecommunication (DoT) To Install 531 Mobile Towers In Assam, 980 In Arunachal Pradesh

At an estimated cost of Rs 1255.59 crore, the Department of Telecommunication (DoT) will install 1,511 mobile towers, 531 in two districts of Assam and 980 in Arunachal Pradesh.

The two districts are Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao. It needs to be mentioned this move is part of the Department’s mission to strengthen connectivity in Northeast India.

Based on its 3.50 crore population, Assam still needs the installation of 19,000 more mobile towers. The proposed installation of mobile towers will cover 691 villages in Assam and 1,683 villages in Arunachal Pradesh, said reports from the Ministry of DoNER.

As per inputs, the Department has already laid 4877 km of Optic Fibre Cable (OFC) in gaon panchayats in Assam for broadland internet connectivity.
