Two widow pension schemes – the Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension Scheme and the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme – are underway in the state.
Widow Pension Schemes Underway In State
It should be mentioned with the merger of the Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension Scheme with Orunodoi 2.0, its beneficiaries will get it under the Orunodoi benefits.
According to an official of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, the Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension Scheme has 2,12,368 beneficiaries in the state and the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme has 1,16,112 beneficiaries.
“In her budget speech on March 16 this year, Finance Minister Ajanta Neog made an announcement that the beneficiaries of the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme would be included in Orunodoi 2.0. We have already started the process for this. From this financial year, each of these widow beneficiaries will get Rs 1,250 per month, against Rs 300 per month earlier,” said the official.
