Assam: Opposition Parties Slam Ruling BJP Over Rahul Gandhi’s Disqualification From Lok Sabha

On March 24, opposition parties in Assam have slammed the ruling BJP and further alleged ”the saffron brigade has finished the democracy” following Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from the Lok Sabha over ‘Modi Surname’ remark.

In this regard, the Congress said Rahul Gandhi has been consistently fighting for people’s rights and to protect Indian democracy, both within and outside Parliament.

“He will continue to do so. Truth shall, must and will prevail. Appropriate legal action will be taken,” the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) wrote on microblogging site Twitter.

Meanwhile, APCC president Bhupen Kumar Borah alleged the conviction and subsequent disqualification from Parliament is the outcome of speaking for the people of the country.

Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi termed Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from the Lok Sabha an aberration for democracy.
